As promised, and to honor the month of “June Brides”, I am back with a “fun” (at least for me) tidbit on Brides. 20+ years ago, it was common for Brides-to-be to register for china, household linens and other useful homemaking items. Today, I do not know if a Wedding Registry even exists, at least not one that contains fine china (insert sad face here!). I have received invitations to weddings over the past 5-10 years, where the lovely couple are registered online (!) or at a local BIG BOX store…neither option which appeals to my love of all things girly and china-y. So, enjoy my flashback to “vintage days” of wedding registries when you would go to an actual store and look over the lovely china patterns and crystal and placeware each couple had chosen for their new life together.
I love dishes like most women love shoes or handbags….I just cannot get enough of them! So, today I thought I would honor the traditional month of Weddings by sharing my small collection of Lenox Eternal fine china with a few coordinating salad plates. It is no secret to my family and friends that I love to set a pretty table, no special occasion needed. I hope you get some ideas, or maybe the inspiration, to use your fine china, or your very best plates, to create a tablescape that welcomes family and friends to your home. While china can be an expensive purchase, you can certainly find deals on Ebay, your local Facebook Marketplace, or by reaching out to family members who no longer use their collection. Even if you have been married for several years, it’s never too late to create a “gift registry” and let your family know your wants for future birthday/anniversary/Holiday gift-giving. I hope you have enjoyed this little posting today…and that maybe it will motivate you to pull out your china, or other dishes, and enjoy creating pretty place settings! Check back as next up I will share some of my favorite “everyday” dishes and inexpensive ways to mix-and-match to create a welcoming table.
Enjoy!
