Cecile's Lemonade
This is a recipe given to me by my cousin, Cecile, who keeps this lemonade on hand throughout the Summer. Try it! It is wonderful!
Ingredients
- 1 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice, well-strained
- 2 cups sugar
- 1 quart HOT water
- 1 1/2 quarts COLD water
- add'l lemon slices
Instructions
-
In a large pitcher, stir together the well-strained lemon juice, sugar and HOT water; stir until sugar is completely dissolved.
-
Stir the COLD water into the lemonade mixture; making sure to stir well to fully combine ingredients.
-
Cover and chill in refrigerator until ready to serve. At serving time, add lemon slices to individual glasses, if desired.
Recipe Notes
Straining the seeds and pulp from the lemon juice will help to prevent bitterness when storing in refrigerator for 2 or more days.
Try adding a splash of cherry juice for extra flavor.
For Blackberry or Blueberry Lemonade, puree or smash 2 cups of fruit and stir into mixture with the lemon juice.
Enjoy!
TIP: I keep my lemon "shells" in a bag in my freezer. I add them to homemade simmering potpourri in the fall and winter!
