I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me. Philippians 4:13
When I was in High School, our Fellowship of Christian Athletes had t-shirts made with our club emblem on the front and the words “JESUS is my strength” on the back of the shirt. It was a reminder to us that Jesus is always there to lift us up in times of need and He will carry us when we lack the strength to take another step. I loved that t-shirt. Every time I wore it, I felt like I was somehow wearing the armor of God. Some time ago, I sat at my younger cousin’s funeral and listen to the pastor call on this verse. He spoke of how my cousin claimed this strength in her courageous battle with cancer. He reminded her parents and her sweet children that they can claim and cling to this same strength as they face the days ahead. They walk a new, different path now…but the same strength that Christ gave his followers will also be there for them to claim.
We do not know what each day will bring to our lives as we continue to battle an enemy virus…some face difficult medical issues, some face financial troubles, some face brokenness in their homes…but one thing is sure, the strength that Christ offers to his believers will allow us all to face the day, and carry on in His Victory.
