Orangeade
A refreshing and delicious citrus beverage!
Ingredients
- 2 cups water
- 2 cups white sugar
- 4 cups orange juice, freshly squeezed about 4 pounds of oranges
- 4 cups cold water
- orange slices
Instructions
-
Make a simple syrup by combining 2 cups water and 2 cups white sugar in a medium pot on stove top. Heat over MEDIUM just until sugar is completely dissolved, stirring frequently.
-
Strain your freshly squeezed orange juice two times to remove all pulp and seeds. This action helps to keep the beverage from becoming bitter when stored for 3-4 days.
-
Once syrup is ready, turn heat to LOW and stir in the strained orange juice. Stir well to combine, 2-3 minutes, then turn heat off and remove from stove top.
-
Pour the orange mixture into a serving pitcher and add 4 cups of cold water, stirring well to combine.
-
Keep in refrigerator until ready to serve. Serve over lots of ice and add an orange slice to each glass, if desired.
Recipe Notes
TIP: save your orange "shells" in a freezer bag to use for homemade simmering potpourri, or for serving orange sherbet!
