Happy 2023! I hope your year is off to a happy & healthy start. There seems to be so much sickness going around, that some families are just now celebrating the Holidays. We had a quiet New Year’s Eve and then had a New Year’s Day dinner with our kids. It was nice to have a festive dinner with just the four of us sitting around and talking.
I set a simple tablescape for our celebration…but we ended eating on old-fashioned lunchroom trays in our living room where we enjoyed the fireplace, Christmas tree lights and tv. Not the traditional setting for a family dinner, but we laughed and enjoyed ourselves…and that’s all that matters!
Here are some pics I snapped of our Simple Snowmen table. It will change again this month as I have another set of winter plates to use…so enjoy these pics for now.
I used a taupe tablecloth from HomeGoods/TJMaxx for my starting point. I love the soft taupe color with the pale white polka dots. My place setting consists of rattan chargers from Pier 1 (I miss that store), large white dinner plates and matching soup bowls along with white dinner napkins. The white setting allows the scene to be peaceful and the focus to be drawn to the rattan/wicker snowmen…also from Pier 1. I kept the flocked garland centerpiece from Christmas and covered the wooden box riser with snow sprinkles as a base for the 3 Jolly fellows. The frosted candlesticks were also a Pier 1 purchase, probably 20 years ago.
Here’s a closer look…
I hope you have a great week…and check back for more winter tablescapes, recipes and winter goodies!
Happy Simple Start to 2023!
