Fun Fact: St. Patrick’s Day was a celebration which began in the 17th century to honor the life of Saint Patrick and the early beginnings of Christianity in Ireland. The celebration takes place each year on March 17th, to honor the anniversary of the Saint’s death, which was believed to be March 17, 461 AD.
As for wearing green, the folklore tradition states that leprechauns, pesky fairy-type creatures, cannot see the color green. So those who wear green during the Irish celebrations are safe from the pinches and pranks of the leprechauns on St. Patrick’s day.
May you have a fun day celebrating St. Patrick and partaking in green celebrations, and I leave you with this traditional Irish blessing…
