Here is a simple take on an old family favorite! The great thing about using the CrockPot is letting young kids learn to make this simple treat. It’s a great way to get kids involved in treats that can be made for any gathering or Holiday…simply change out the sprinkles and use the recipe for all your upcoming parties!
CrockPot Rice Crispy Treats
Ingredients
- 5 T. unsalted butter
- 16 oz bag regular marshmallows
- 5-6 cups Rice Crispy cereal
- Holiday sprinkles, optional
Instructions
-
Lightly spray the CrockPot with cooking spray.
-
Turn CrockPot to HIGH setting and slice up butter into the CrockPot.
-
Place lid on CrockPot and allow butter to melt…keep watch as this only takes a few minutes.
-
Once butter is melted, add marshmallows to the CrockPot. Stir well to coat with butter. Place lid on CrockPot and let marshmallows melt for 5-6 minutes. Keep watch as some CrockPots cook faster than others.
-
Stir well, replace lid if marshmallows are not completely melted and check again in 2-3 minutes.
-
Once marshmallows are melted, pour in the cereal. Start with 5 cups and then add more if you like. (I like a gooey treat, so I use 4-5 cups max in my treats).
-
Stir well until cereal is completely coated with marshmallows.
-
Spray a 9×13 pan with cooking spray and pour mixture into pan. Lightly spray your CLEAN hands and gently press down mixture. Add Holiday sprinkles as desired. (For a thicker treat, use an 8×8 pan).
-
Allow cereal treats to set before cutting…if you can wait that long 🙂 I usually dig in with a spoon!
-
For a variety of treats, try using different flavored marshmallows or fruity-type rice cereals.
-
Have Fun…and Enjoy these treats with your Loved Ones!
